DRAGONHEART Jockeyed by Meredith Hently
UNICORN HORN SERIES WORKOUT
UNICORN HORN SERIES WORKOUT
The last week of January was approaching and a workout was needed for a certain colt. Meredith was assigned to juvenile DragonHeart the crazy colt if his age group. He wasn't a very friendly guy and Meredith had to use lots of treats and straight forward words to get this colt to listen. Draco was one of Nature's Blues grey horses. After his saddle was tightened on him Meredith gave a firm tone, "Let's have a nice work today Draco I mean it or no pasture time for you." She said as the colt snorted and kept quiet. It was difficult at times to get this colt to listen but many of the horses in Nature Blues had attitudes.
DragonHeart was entered in the Unicorn Horn Series on the turf of the track. The field was large however Meredith didn't want to worry about the horses she was placed with as Draco was not horse friendly. The horse was mental but, loved to run regardless of the task. She aided Draco off to a good start as the colt trotted away not liking the small weight on his back he bucked within a few strides until he realized he would not lose the girl on his back. Approaching the turn Draco decided to get into game as he went into a gallop trying out the grass beneath his shoes. Ears flaunted back and his tail rose, Draco knew what was going on.
A son to the Hall of Famer Everyday Hero he was a nasty preceder who mocked every horse he came across. Meredith also rode Reflected in Water who had an attitude but not as vital as Draco's. Asking for another pace, DragonHeart moved his strides farther apart to get up his time along the back stretch that he ignored the weight on his back and went faster and faster with each furlong that came to sight. "Good Boy Draco..." Meredith said turning the reins so he would turn with the track of the final turn to head to the homestretch. A colt like this was unpredictable and Meredith was only praying that he would not bite any other horses he was facing.
He would make his sire proud with his feats he deemed his. Speeding along the home stretch the wire grew closer and closer and when he passed it without any horses in front of him Draco felt proud of himself as did Meredith. Rubbing the colt's neck, Draco bobbed his head with the shown affection. "Hey knock it off you did perfectly." Meredith said as the grey colt trotted off the turf track to his own doing. The colt was inspiring to look at and everyone would be amazed by his results. Meredith was praying he would at least make it to the top three its not everyday a juvenile wins a Unicorn Horn Series.
